Who we are
The Hindu Colony Ganeshotsav organising committee, Hindu Colony, Dadar, Mumbai, operates this app and its registration, notification and donation-receipt services. Contact support@hcgm.in for privacy questions, corrections, access requests or complaints.
Information we collect
Account information includes your name, username, email, verified phone number when linked, and sign-in identifiers. Authentication is handled by Clerk. We also store your locality and age-group preference; linked participant names, dates of birth, relationships, optional contact details and guardian consent; competition registrations, attendance and results; committee donation records and receipts; notification preferences, read status and push tokens. Service providers may process IP addresses, device/browser information and operational logs to deliver and secure these services.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate accounts, determine competition eligibility, manage registrations, show your donation history and receipts, send requested festival updates, respond to enquiries, and prevent misuse. Dates of birth are used for age eligibility. Donation records come from the committee; the app does not collect payments or card details.
Service providers and sharing
Clerk processes authentication information. Our hosting and database providers process app records and requests. Expo and the Apple/Google push services process notification delivery information. If you choose WhatsApp verification, Meta/WhatsApp processes your number and verification messages. Authorized committee staff access information needed for their duties. We do not sell personal data or use third-party advertising SDKs. Information may be disclosed when required by law. Service providers may process information outside your country.
Device permissions
Notifications are optional and can be turned off in the app or device settings. Biometric unlock uses your device’s authentication system; fingerprint and facial templates are not collected by us. Downloading and sharing a receipt uses device file and sharing features. We do not request contacts or precise location for festival registration.
Children and linked participants
A parent or lawful guardian must authorize the collection of a child’s details and their competition participation. Only provide another person’s information when you have authority to do so. Contact support@hcgm.in if a child’s information was submitted without permission so we can review and remove it.
Account deletion and retention
Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in account, profile details, linked participants, competition registrations and results, notification history, preferences, and device push tokens. This cannot be undone. Download any receipts you need first. Start in Profile → Security → Delete account, or email support@hcgm.in with the subject “Delete my account” from your registered email. If you cannot access that address, include your username or linked phone number so we can verify ownership. Never send a password or OTP. In-app deletion normally completes immediately; if it fails, retry or contact support. Email requests require ownership verification and are handled within 30 days after verification. Committee donation records and issued receipts are retained separately for accounting and legal obligations. Security and administrative audit records may also be retained for fraud prevention and accountability. These records are restricted to authorized committee staff and are not an active app account. A minimal account identifier and deletion status are kept to prevent old sessions or delayed events from restoring your account. Backup copies expire under the hosting provider’s backup retention schedule.
Your choices and security
You can edit your profile and notification preferences in the app. Email support@hcgm.in to request access, correction, a copy of your information, or withdrawal of consent. Withdrawing information required for registration may prevent participation. We use authenticated access, encrypted connections and role-based controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Policy updates
Changes are published on this page and in the app with an updated effective date. Material changes to how information is used will be communicated through the app. Contact support@hcgm.in with any questions.
